Laptops get wiped, lost and broken far from the office. Your security agents shouldn’t vanish with them — Absolute Secure Endpoint keeps an agent on every PC that firmware puts back if it is removed, then adds theft response, self-healing of your other agents and, in the top two editions, patching.

Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
An agent that survives a wipe and keeps your other security tools running, so a PC stays visible and fixable.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | Lost laptops, broken agents, manual patches | Absolute Secure Endpoint |
|---|---|---|
| A laptop goes missing | A police report and a write-off | Locate it, freeze it with a message, delete files |
| A security agent breaks | Noticed at the next audit, if then | Application Resilience repairs it on its own |
| Windows will not boot | Courier the PC back for a rebuild | Rehydrate reloads a trusted image remotely |
| A user removes the agent | The device drops off the books | Persistence firmware reinstalls it |
| Monthly patching | Spreadsheets and manual approvals | Assess, deploy, roll back (Resilience for Security) |
| What it is NOT | — | An MDM for phones, or a price you can click to buy |
The cheapest first test is the 30-day no-cost Rehydrate trial, or the free trial Absolute offers on its two patching editions.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
Built into PC firmware by close to 30 makers and dormant until a licence is bought; once switched on, it reinstalls the agent after a reimage, a new drive or a removal.
One agent on Windows 11, Windows Server 2022 or 2025, macOS 14 to 27 and ChromeOS reports hardware, software, location and security state, and carries out every action.
A cloud console with role-based access, single sign-on and two-factor login holds dashboards, rules, alerts, the AI Assistant and connectors for ServiceNow and SIEMs.
Acquired with Syxsense in September 2024, it assesses OS and third-party patch state, deploys and rolls back updates, and in Resilience for Automation runs fix workflows.
Firmware below the OS, an agent on the PC, a cloud console above — with the patch engine switched on in the top two editions.
Absolute Secure Endpoint keeps a firmware-anchored agent on every PC, then heals, recovers and patches it.
Reports hardware, installed software, activations and connection history, and flags a missing device when it next goes online.
Finds PII, PHI and financial records on devices, estimates cost exposure, and spots files syncing to Dropbox, iCloud, Box or OneDrive.
Keeps 365 days of location history from the entry edition; Control adds geofences that alert when a device leaves its area.
Shows encryption and anti-malware status on compliance dashboards, and answers plain-language fleet questions via the AI Assistant.
Freezes a device with your own message, on demand, on a schedule or after an offline timer; firmware freeze needs an eligible Windows PC.
Removes chosen files remotely, or wipes a machine at end of life and issues a compliance certificate as evidence for disposal records.
From the Resilience edition, Application Resilience self-heals catalogue apps such as Intune, CrowdStrike or SentinelOne when they break.
Recovery playbooks run from firmware beneath a damaged OS, up to reloading a trusted image, with nobody at the desk; shown on Windows.
Resilience for Security assesses and deploys OS and app patches such as Adobe, Chrome and Zoom, ready within 24 hours by Absolute’s claim.
Reverts a troublesome patch, ranks updates by your own risk score, keeps to maintenance windows and reaches dark networks via a proxy relay.
Resilience for Automation finds weak passwords, disabled firewalls, open ports and stale antivirus, then fixes them with prebuilt workflows.
Remote control plus File Browser, Event Viewer, WMI Explorer, Remote Registry and a PowerShell console, in Resilience for Automation.
Rehydrate rebuilding a Windows PC, a customer case study, closing the remediation gap and rules that automate a response. All from Absolute’s official channel, 2025–2026.
Rehydrate bringing a Windows PC back from firmware, the recovery step included from the Resilience edition upwards.
Lincoln International, an Absolute customer, describes what Secure Endpoint does for its device fleet.
Absolute on the distance between spotting a vulnerability and fixing it, the job of the top two editions.
Setting rules that watch device state and trigger a response without an administrator stepping in.

Most endpoint tools vanish when a laptop is reimaged or its drive swapped. Persistence, built into firmware by close to 30 PC makers and switched on when you buy, reinstalls the agent after an OS reinstall, a new disk or a removal, so a stolen or wiped laptop can still report in and be frozen.
Absolute does not replace Intune or your EDR; it watches them. From the Resilience edition, Application Resilience self-heals 80+ security apps by Absolute’s count, and Rehydrate reloads a trusted OS image from firmware. A 2024 Absolute demo applies it to PCs stuck on the CrowdStrike blue screen.
The Syxsense engine, bought in September 2024, powers Resilience for Security, which patches OS and third-party apps with rollback and risk scoring, and Resilience for Automation, which adds misconfiguration fixes, no-code workflows, remote control and an API. GigaOm cited the latter in rating Absolute a 2025 Patch Management Leader.
It is not an MDM: no iOS, Android, Apple enrolment or Autopilot. The three lower editions do not patch. Linux patching is on a product page but not in the agent requirements. Firmware freeze needs eligible Windows PCs, and the stolen-device guarantee covers only some Education customers. Prices are private-offer list figures.
Run Absolute’s compatibility checker on your Dell, HP, Lenovo and other models to see which ship with Persistence in firmware.
Decide between visibility, theft response, self-healing and patching; patching only starts at Resilience for Security.
Activate a pilot of Windows and Mac laptops, set geofences and Required Applications, then break an EDR agent on purpose.
Run a Patch Tuesday cycle with a rollback, and test Rehydrate on a spare PC under its 30-day no-cost trial.
Push the agent fleet-wide, link ServiceNow or your SIEM, and add rules that freeze devices left offline for too long.

“A departing contractor reinstalled Windows on his laptop. The agent reappeared within a day, and we froze the machine.”
“Field engineers kept switching off our EDR agent. Application Resilience now restores it before anyone raises a ticket.”
“We stepped up to Resilience for Security for third-party patching; rollback saved a week when one browser update misbehaved.”
“A geofence alert flagged three laptops leaving a branch after hours. The freeze message got two of them back that week.”
“It is not an MDM, which surprised our CIO. Intune still runs our phones; Absolute watches the laptops and Intune’s agent.”
“The AWS list price was only a starting point and the quote took weeks. Ask about Rehydrate Ready terms early on.”

Execution strength vs product vision — the classic market map, minus the paywall.
MSRP $21.95–$89.95 per device a year; private offers.
The grid nobody publishes — how widely it patches operating systems and apps vs how well a PC and its agents survive tampering or failure.

Absolute Secure Endpoint is one of 24 RMM & patch products TechBag carries. The RMM & Patch guide narrows them to a shortlist and shows the reasoning. →
Drag the sliders (managed PCs; IT-hour cost). Estimates model IT time spent chasing missing laptops, repairing disabled security agents, rebuilding PCs and patching by hand at an assumed 1.5 hours per PC a year, with 70% of it removed by a firmware-anchored agent that self-heals, recovers and patches. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.
Loaded cost = salary + overheads per productive hour. Illustrative only — your TechBag quote models your actual environment and modules.
Quoted in practice. Absolute has no price page; its own AWS Marketplace listing shows MSRPs per device a year of $21.95 (Visibility), $39.95 (Control), $69.95 (Resilience), $79.95 (Resilience for Security) and $89.95 (Resilience for Automation), all marked Private Offer Only — list figures, not a price you can click to buy. Patching starts at Resilience for Security. Absolute shows no rupee price. TechBag matches the edition to the job, then quotes in INR with GST.

Take this into your next vendor call — including ours.
Which job are you buying for: visibility, theft response, self-healing or patching? Patching needs Resilience for Security or higher.
Is every managed device on Windows 11, Windows Server 2022/2025, macOS 14+ or ChromeOS? Phones need a separate MDM.
Do your models carry Persistence? Firmware freeze needs eligible Windows PCs; supervisor passwords need eligible Lenovo.
Do you patch Linux servers? The product page claims it, the agent requirements omit it; get support confirmed in writing.
Are your top 20 apps in the patch catalogue? Absolute names Adobe, Chrome and Zoom but publishes no title count.
Which agents must stay healthy? Check that the Application Resilience catalogue lists your EDR, VPN and Intune versions.
Does an auditor need data in India? Ask in writing whether your tenant would be placed in Absolute’s India data centre.
Does the quote show edition, device count and term against the AWS MSRP? Ask for INR with GST and Rehydrate Ready terms.
Check which of your laptops already carry Persistence first, or let a TechBag advisor pick the edition and run a pilot on a mixed Windows and Mac group.
