Quick answer

Signzy is an API marketplace for identity, fraud and compliance checks — KYC and KYB, liveness and deepfake detection, AML screening, Account Aggregator lending data and Aadhaar eSign, bought individually rather than as a bundle. Founded 2015 in Bengaluru. It is the only Indian company featured in the Gartner Market Guide for KYC Platforms for Banking 2024, and unusually for this market it names India as a data-residence region. Quote-only. Onboarding & KYC

Buy the checks you need, not a bundle.

KYC and KYB with liveness, face match, deepfake detection, OCR and the no-code journey builder. The marketplace model is the distinguishing thing: each check is a separate API you call and pay for, so a lender needing PAN, Aadhaar and bank verification buys exactly those rather than a platform licence covering forty capabilities it will never use. That flexibility is real, and it makes the check list in your contract the thing that matters.

Fraud & AML

The account is real. The purpose is not.

MuleShield for mule-account detection, data breach checks, AML screening and transaction monitoring. Mule detection is the one worth understanding: these accounts pass KYC because the identity is genuine — a real person, real documents, opened at someone else's direction to move someone else's money. No identity check catches that, because nothing about the identity is false. It takes behavioural and network signals after onboarding.

Lending

Bank data with consent, not emailed PDFs.

Account Aggregator APIs, risk assessment and bank statement analysis. India's AA framework lets a borrower share bank data directly from their bank with a consent record attached, replacing PDFs of uncertain provenance. For a lender the gain is two-sided: cleaner inputs into the credit model, and an audit trail showing exactly what was shared and on what basis when a regulator asks how a decision was reached.

Digital Contracting

The step everyone forgets to budget for.

Contract 360, eStamping and Aadhaar eSign. This is the part of a digital journey that quietly stays manual: the customer is verified in ninety seconds and then waits three days for a stamped, signed agreement. eStamping matters specifically in India because stamp duty is a state subject with its own rates and processes, and getting it wrong makes an agreement unenforceable rather than merely late.

The Innovations row — branding over the same APIs

Platform & engine

Signzy's site shows an 'Our Innovations' row containing One Touch KYC, MuleShield, Contract 360, the No Code Platform and Agentic CKYC. These are not a separate product category: they are packaged or renamed presentations of the APIs already in the six marketplace categories, which is why this hub does not give them their own pages. One Touch KYC, for instance, bundles document verification, biometrics, liveness and consent capture into a single call rather than several. That bundling is genuinely useful — fewer round trips, one integration — but ask which underlying checks it actually runs, because that determines both the price and what you are relying on.

Regional stacks — the same marketplace, different countries

Platform & engine

Alongside the India stack, Signzy publishes a US stack and a Middle East stack, each carrying the checks that market needs. If your onboarding is India-only this is irrelevant; if you onboard across several of those markets it is a genuine advantage over an India-only vendor, because one integration and one contract cover them. What to confirm during scoping is coverage depth per country rather than presence: a stack existing for a market is not the same as it carrying every check you need there, and the difference usually only surfaces during implementation.

The thesis

Why “MDR and integration” is the whole story

Point tools from different vendors don’t talk, and most mid-sized organisations can’t staff a Signzy sells checks, not platforms — each verification is an API you call and pay for — and the India residency option doubled down on it.

01
The commercial model

A marketplace, not a platform licence

Each check is a separate API you call and pay for. You buy the four checks you need rather than a licence covering forty. The trade-off is that the check list in your contract is the thing that matters, and a category name tells you nothing about it.

02
The differentiator

India residency, actually stated

Signzy names India as a data-residence region and offers in-country storage on request for RBI localisation. Among the identity vendors TechBag carries, most publish nothing at all on this — so it is a real advantage, and still worth getting in writing per deployment.

03
What clears review

Certified to the boxes procurement asks about

ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, PCI-DSS aligned, with CERT-In annual third-party VAPT. These are the artefacts an Indian security review asks for, and having them ready shortens a procurement cycle materially.

04
Where it compounds

One integration across markets

US, Middle East and India stacks run on the same marketplace and contract. Worth little if you onboard only in India, and a genuine saving if you onboard across several — confirm depth per country, not just presence.

Start with the checks you actually need; everything else on the marketplace stays unbilled.

The acronym decoder

Every term on these pages, in one place
Signzy
A Bengaluru identity and compliance company founded in 2015, selling KYC, fraud, lending and contracting checks as individually purchased APIs.
API marketplace
A model where each check is a separate API bought and billed on its own, rather than a platform licence bundling capabilities you may not use.
Market Guide
A Gartner report describing a market and naming notable vendors in it. It assigns no positions and ranks nobody — unlike a Magic Quadrant.
Mule account
A real account opened by a real person, at someone else's direction, to move someone else's money. It passes KYC because the identity is genuine.
Account Aggregator
India's consent-based financial data sharing framework, letting a borrower share bank data directly with a lender rather than emailing statements.
eStamping
Paying stamp duty electronically. In India stamp duty is a state subject, so rates and processes differ by state and errors affect enforceability.
Aadhaar eSign
An electronic signature backed by Aadhaar authentication, carrying legal validity under the IT Act for agreements executed digitally.
CKYC
India's Central KYC registry. A record filed once can be reused across financial institutions, removing repeated document collection.
Data residence
Where customer data is physically stored. Signzy names India as a region and offers in-country storage on request — most identity vendors state nothing.
Track 02 · Buying guides

Buy it like you’ve done this before

The procurement playbook TechBag runs with IT buyers — steps, licensing cheat-sheet, and the pitfalls that cost quarters.

01

List the checks, not the categories

This is a marketplace: you buy individual APIs. A category name in a quote tells you nothing about which checks you are actually licensed for, and per-call pricing varies by check.

02

Read the Gartner claim carefully

Signzy is featured in the 2024 Market Guide for KYC Platforms for Banking, as the only Indian company. A Market Guide ranks nobody, so nobody should sell it to you as a Leader position.

03

Ask for the India residency commitment in writing

India is a named region and in-country storage is available on request. That is better than most of this market offers — get the specific commitment for your deployment documented.

04

Collect the certification artefacts early

ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II and the CERT-In VAPT report are what an Indian security review asks for. Requesting them at the start shortens the cycle considerably.

05

Model your real call volumes

Per-API pricing means cost scales with calls, including retries on failed verifications. Model the retry rate honestly rather than assuming clean first-time completion.

06

Get the quote — pricing is per call

Signzy publishes no price. TechBag scopes the specific API list against your volumes and returns a quote in INR with GST.

Five pitfalls that cost buyers quarters

1

Reading 'Recognized KYC Leader' as a Gartner ranking

Signzy's own homepage carries that badge next to Gartner's name. The fact behind it: Signzy is the only Indian company featured in the Gartner Market Guide for KYC Platforms for Banking 2024. A Market Guide describes a market and names notable vendors; it assigns no positions and ranks nobody, and Signzy is not in Gartner's IDV Magic Quadrant. The inclusion is creditable — cite it by name and year, and do not let it be restated as a Leader position.

2

Buying a category instead of a list of checks

This is a marketplace, so a quote naming 'Onboarding' does not say which APIs you are licensed for or what each costs. Per-call pricing varies by check type, and a document OCR pass and a full video verification session are very different rates. Enumerate the APIs in the contract: buying only what you need is the model's advantage, and a category-level contract turns that into a liability.

3

Assuming residency is the default rather than an option

Signzy is better positioned here than most of this market: India is a named data-residence region and in-country storage is available for enterprise clients needing RBI localisation. But the wording is that clients can opt for it — an option to request, not a guarantee applying automatically. Get the commitment documented for your deployment before signature.

4

Expecting identity checks to catch mule accounts

A mule account passes KYC because everything about the identity is genuine — a real person, real documents, verified correctly. It was opened at someone else's direction to move someone else's money, and no identity check reveals that. Buying better verification does not address it; behavioural and network analysis after onboarding does, which is what MuleShield and transaction monitoring are for. Scope those explicitly if mules are your actual loss driver.

5

Leaving contracting until after the pilot

Teams digitise verification, celebrate a ninety-second onboarding, then discover the customer waits three days for a stamped, signed agreement. Contracting is the step that quietly stays manual, and in India it is harder than it looks: stamp duty is a state subject with its own rates and processes, and errors make an agreement unenforceable rather than late. Scope eStamping and eSign alongside verification, not as a phase two.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about Signzy

Signzy is an identity, fraud and compliance company founded in 2015 and headquartered in Bengaluru, with further India offices in Mumbai and Gurgaon and international offices in New York, Warrenville and Dubai. It is led by co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Ankit Ratan, alongside co-founders Arpit Ratan and Ankur Pandey. What distinguishes it commercially is the model: Signzy sells individual checks as APIs through a marketplace rather than licensing a bundled platform, so a buyer purchases the specific verifications they need. Its India marketplace spans onboarding, identity verification, fraud prevention, digital contracting, governance and compliance, and lending. TechBag scopes the API list and quotes in INR with GST.
