The thesis

Why “where it runs” is the whole story

Many remote-support tools only run in the vendor’s cloud. ISL Online sellsthe same product three ways — its cloud, a server licence you install yourself, or a managed private cloud — so session data can stay where your rules need it.

01
The technician’s app

ISL Light

Runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with iOS and Android apps and a browser option. Version 5, released in March 2026, brought a redesigned session toolbar.

02
On the customer’s side

ISL Light Client

Downloaded for a single attended session and joined with a session code, so nothing has to be installed on the user’s machine in advance.

03
On managed devices

ISL AlwaysOn

The agent that keeps a computer or Android device reachable with nobody there, protected by access passwords and, if you choose, local consent.

04
The server layer

ISL Conference Proxy

Relays and brokers every session. ISL runs it in the cloud from EU master servers; Self-Hosted and private-cloud buyers run their own copy.

Start with the plan your technician count needs; SAML sign-on starts at Premium, and server-side recording needs Self-Hosted.

Track 02 · Buying guides

Buy it like you’ve done this before

The procurement playbook TechBag runs with IT buyers — steps, licensing cheat-sheet, and the pitfalls that cost quarters.

01

Count technicians at your peak

A licence covers one technician at a time, and that person can run several sessions. Size by how many work at once, not by head count.

02

Check the device caps

Starter reaches 10 unattended devices and Standard 1,000. Premium and Self-Hosted are unlimited under a fair-use starting point of 5,000.

03

Pick where it runs

ISL’s cloud, your own server, or a single-tenant private cloud from 20 licences. Only the last two keep session history off ISL’s servers.

04

Match security needs to a plan

SAML single sign-on and directory sign-in need Premium, Self-Hosted or Enterprise. Recording and two-factor login are in every plan.

05

Use the free trial

The trial lasts 15 days and needs no card. Direct purchases can be refunded within 15 days; partner sales follow the partner’s terms.

06

Get it quoted in rupees

Indian buyers are shown USD with tax excluded. TechBag sizes the plan, quotes in INR with GST and supports rollout.

ISL Online publishes USD prices per concurrent technician, billed yearly; the private cloud has a 20-licence minimum. TechBag quotes in INR with GST.

Five pitfalls that cost buyers quarters

1

Reading the price as per session

ISL charges per concurrent technician, and one technician can hold several sessions open. Three licences means three people working at once, not three sessions.

2

Expecting single sign-on on Standard

SAML SSO and AD, LDAP or RADIUS sign-in start at Premium; Self-Hosted and Enterprise include them too. Starter and Standard rely on ISL accounts with two-factor login.

3

Assuming the cloud keeps recordings

In ISL’s cloud a recording is written to the technician’s own computer as an .isr file. Only a Self-Hosted server can store recordings centrally.

4

Planning to control iPhones

Android devices can be fully controlled and left unattended. iPhones and iPads can only share their screen for viewing; the technician cannot operate them.

5

Asking for a SOC 2 report

ISL holds ISO 27001:2022, ISO 14001, ENS and ACN certificates. It describes SOC 2, PCI DSS and HIPAA as frameworks it helps customers meet, not reports it holds.
