A purged mailbox, a wiped SharePoint library, a bad Salesforce import. The recycle bin won’t hold them forever — OpenText Cloudally Backup, formerly CloudAlly, copies Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Box and Dropbox to immutable AWS S3 or your own bucket, up to three times a day, and restores any snapshot without overwriting.

This page covers OpenText Cloudally Backup — SaaS backup for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Box and Dropbox. The rest:
Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
A service copies your SaaS data out of the vendor’s cloud into separate storage, so a deletion or attack cannot reach every copy.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | Recycle bins and native retention | OpenText Cloudally Backup |
|---|---|---|
| A file deleted months ago | Gone once the recycle bin or trash empties | Restored from a snapshot, with no time limit |
| Who can restore | A tenant admin, after a ticket | Admins, or users through self-service recovery |
| Restoring over live data | Native rollback can overwrite newer work | Non-destructive restore beside the current copy |
| Leavers’ mailboxes and files | Keep paying for the licence, or lose the data | Auto-archived, so the licence can be released |
| Box, Dropbox and Salesforce | Each relies on its own short native window | Backed up in the same account as Microsoft 365 |
| What it is NOT | — | An Entra ID backup, a published price, or a listed India region |
The cheapest test is the free trial: back up one pilot group, then restore a mailbox and a SharePoint library to last week.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
An admin authorises the service by OAuth for each platform; OpenText says your Box, Dropbox and Salesforce credentials are never stored or visible to it.
Tasks copy mail, files, sites, records and metadata up to three times a day, auto-detect new users and sites, and pause Salesforce runs at the API limit.
Copies land, AES-256 encrypted and Object Lock immutable, in the AWS region you pick at sign-up, or in your own AWS, Azure, GCP or S3-compatible storage.
Admins or users browse point-in-time snapshots, search by keyword, and restore without overwriting, to the same or another user, or export Zip, PST or EML.
OAuth into each SaaS tenant, copies up to three times a day — on immutable AWS S3 or in a bucket you own.
OpenText Cloudally Backup keeps independent copies of five SaaS platforms, so a deletion or attack in the tenant cannot reach them.
Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Box and Dropbox are all backed up from a single Cloudally account and console.
Exchange mail, calendars and contacts, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams channels and Groups, with shared mailboxes and metadata.
Standard and custom objects, attachments, workflows, Apex classes and Chatter, with sandbox seeding and data anonymisation.
Every snapshot is kept, so you can browse back to any earlier date and restore a mailbox, a site or a single file from it.
Restores add the old version back without overwriting what is there now, to the same user or to a different one.
Download Zip archives with EML, VCF and ICS files or an Outlook PST, or push an export to your own S3, Azure, Box or Dropbox.
Backups sit on AWS S3 with Object Lock and AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit, outside the SaaS tenant they protect.
Bring your own storage writes the backups to AWS, Azure, GCP or S3-compatible storage you control, on request to support.
Departed users are auto-archived, so a Microsoft or Google licence can be released while their mail and files stay recoverable.

Many SaaS backup services cover only Microsoft 365 and Google. Cloudally also covers Salesforce data and metadata, with sandbox seeding, plus Box and Dropbox, all in one console. New users and sites are picked up automatically, and leavers are archived so their licence can be freed.
By default the copies sit on AWS S3 in the region picked at sign-up, AES-256 encrypted and locked with Object Lock, and OpenText says nothing is pruned. If policy says the data must live in your own account, bring-your-own storage writes to AWS, Azure, GCP or S3-compatible buckets instead.
Microsoft 365 file data can be bought per 10 GB per service, so a firm with heavy SharePoint but few mailboxes need not license every user; Microsoft Complete is per user, covering all Exchange users. There are no minimums, terms run monthly or yearly, and 24x7x365 support is included.
No price is published. The product pages list no India region and disagree on 9, 10 or 11 data centres. Entra ID is not listed. OpenText keeps the SMB and consumer security line, which includes this backup, outside its core and is divesting non-core units; ask about the roadmap.
List mailboxes, SharePoint and OneDrive volume per service, Google seats, Salesforce orgs and Box or Dropbox teams.
Pick an AWS region from the sign-up list or ask for BYOS; get any India storage commitment written into the quote.
Connect Microsoft 365 by OAuth, activate a pilot group, and check the first full backup completes and alerts arrive.
Restore a mailbox, a SharePoint library and a Salesforce object to a point in time, non-destructively, and time each.
Bulk-activate everyone by group or OU, turn on auto-archive for leavers, and release the licences it frees.

“A shared mailbox was purged by a retention rule. We browsed back three months and restored it beside the live one.”
“Buying SharePoint backup per 10 GB suited us: huge project sites, but only forty people actually sending mail.”
“Sandbox seeding with anonymised records let our Salesforce team test a release on realistic data without exposing customers.”
“Leavers are archived automatically, so we drop their Google licences on day one and HR can still find their files.”
“We back up Box and Microsoft 365 in one console. Before this, Box had nothing beyond its 30-day trash.”
“It works, but getting a price meant two calls, and the region we wanted was not on the list. Ask early.”

Drag the sliders (users whose SaaS data is protected; admin-hour cost). Estimates model IT time spent recovering deleted mail and files by hand, chasing expired recycle-bin windows and keeping leavers’ licences alive, at an assumed 1.5 hours per user a year, with 70% of it removed by self-service point-in-time restore and auto-archiving. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.
Loaded cost = salary + overheads per productive hour. Illustrative only — your TechBag quote models your actual environment and modules.
Quote only, but the model is public. Microsoft 365 Files & Collaboration is priced per 10 GB per service; Microsoft Complete is per user and must cover all Exchange users; Google Workspace is per user, with Shared Drives available per GB. There are no minimums, terms are monthly or annual, and 24x7x365 support is in every purchase. OpenText prints no figures and says currencies vary. TechBag sizes users and gigabytes first, then quotes in INR with GST.

Take this into your next vendor call — including ours.
Which platforms need cover — Microsoft 365, Google, Salesforce, Box, Dropbox — and how many users or GB each?
Is Microsoft 365 cheaper per 10 GB of files or per user under Microsoft Complete, which must include all Exchange users?
Which AWS region will hold the copies? India is not on the product pages, so get any India commitment in writing.
Do you need BYOS to your own AWS, Azure or GCP bucket, and who will pay for and secure that storage?
Must directory objects be restorable? Cloudally does not list Entra ID, so plan another tool if they must be.
Can a mailbox, a site and a Salesforce record each be restored to a point in time within your target hours?
OpenText treats SMB and consumer security as non-core. What does the contract say if the product changes owner?
Does the quote list units, term, currency and support? Ask whether INR billing is available and add GST.
Count users and gigabytes per service first, or let a TechBag advisor compare per-user and per-10 GB pricing, settle the storage region and get the quote in INR.
