Someone changed the core switch at 2 a.m. You should know who, what, and whether it broke policy — Infoblox NetMRI discovers multi-vendor routers, switches and firewalls, archives every configuration change with the user who made it, and checks each device against PCI, HIPAA and DISA STIG policies — on an appliance, VM or AWS account you run.

This page covers Infoblox NetMRI — network change and configuration management, including the Operations Center. The rest:
Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
Every router, switch and firewall config is archived as it changes and checked against policy, so drift is caught early.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | Configs on a laptop, changes from memory | Infoblox NetMRI |
|---|---|---|
| Config backups | Copied to a laptop when someone remembers | Archived on change, with versions compared |
| Who changed it | Asked around after the outage | Syslog parsing names the user (7.6.0+) |
| Audit evidence | Screenshots gathered by hand | Policy reports against rules you deploy |
| Repeated changes | Typed device by device at night | CCS, Perl or Python jobs, approved first |
| Advisories and end-of-life | Vendor emails nobody matches to kit | NetMRI Advisor mapped to your inventory |
| What it is NOT | — | SaaS, a published price, or new on the market |
The cheapest test is one virtual appliance: discover a single site, archive its configs, and run one policy against them.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
NetMRI sweeps the ranges you give it, reads devices with SNMP v1, v2c or v3 and CLI logins, and tries vendor default community strings, flagging any that answer.
A physical appliance, or a virtual appliance that bundles its own operating system and database and grows with the VM; release 7.6.0 added deployment on AWS.
One controller gathers data from several collectors over an SSL VPN and shows the whole estate in one interface; each collector carries its own licence.
Scripts in CCS, Perl or Python are created, scheduled, approved and run across devices, while policy rules test every device against the standards you set.
Self-hosted collectors read every device by SNMP and CLI — one controller rolls the sites into a single view.
Infoblox NetMRI tracks every network configuration change and checks it against policy, on infrastructure you run.
Discovery ranges and static IPs are swept by SNMP and CLI, building an inventory of routers, switches and firewalls across vendors.
NetMRI tries well-known vendor default community strings and raises a Weak Community String issue on any device that answers one.
Collected data is analysed for configuration vulnerabilities, changes and health issues, so problems show up before a user reports them.
Configurations are captured and compared as they change, giving an audit trail of what each device looked like before and after.
Since 7.6.0, NetMRI parses syslog to name the user behind a configuration change, not just the moment the change appeared.
CCS, Perl and Python scripts are written once, then scheduled, approved and run against many devices, so routine changes stop being typed.
You create rules and policies and deploy them; Infoblox names PCI, HIPAA and DISA STIGs among the standards NetMRI enforces.
NetMRI Advisor keeps watch on vendor PSIRTs and security advisories that affect the devices in your inventory, with continuous updates.
The same Advisor feed flags end-of-sale and end-of-support notices, so hardware refresh plans start from your real inventory.
The NetMRI Advisor feed, a technical overview of discovery and policy enforcement, and the original automation pitch. All from Infoblox’s official channel, and all old: 2018, 2017 and 2013.
The Advisor feed that matches vendor advisories and end-of-life notices to your devices; recorded in 2018.
A 2017 walk through discovery, policy enforcement and scripted change; screens predate the 7.6 line.
The original 2013 pitch for NetMRI automation, kept for the idea rather than the interface.

NetMRI archives configurations as they change and lets you compare versions side by side. Release 7.6.0 added syslog parsing that names the user behind a change, so an outage review starts with a name and a diff rather than a guess. Infoblox quotes BlueCross BlueShield calling it the first tool its engineers check each morning.
Policy Compliance tests each device against rules you write, and Infoblox names PCI, HIPAA and DISA STIGs as the standards it enforces. NetMRI Advisor adds vendor PSIRTs, advisories and end-of-sale or end-of-support notices for the same devices, so audit evidence and patch planning come from one list.
Job Management runs CCS, Perl or Python scripts across many devices, with scheduling and an approval step before anything is pushed. An Operations Center joins several collectors into one view over an SSL VPN, and everything runs on appliances, VMs or an AWS account you control.
There is no public price, and the newest official NetMRI video is from 2018. NVD lists five flaws fixed in 7.6.1, among them an unauthenticated SQL injection rated 9.8, so any older install needs patching first. Infoblox publishes no supported-vendor count, and no analyst evaluation of NetMRI was found.
List devices, vendors and sites, and confirm any existing NetMRI is on 7.6.1 or later before anything else happens.
Decide where NetMRI runs and whether several sites need an Operations Center with collectors, then request the quote.
Load discovery ranges plus SNMP v3 and CLI credentials for one site, then fix the weak community strings it flags.
Turn your hardening baseline into policy rules, run them against the pilot site, and review the gaps with the auditors.
Move one repeated change into a CCS or Python job with approval, then extend discovery to the remaining sites.
Modelled on Gartner Peer Insights structure. *Counts and breakdowns are illustrative pending verified review collection.
“A branch went down after a late change. The archive showed the edited ACL and syslog gave us the engineer’s login.”
“Our auditors wanted proof that every core switch met the hardening baseline. One policy report did what a week of screenshots used to.”
“We moved VLAN updates into a Python job with an approval step. Juniors now run changes we used to keep for seniors.”
“Advisor told us which of our access switches were past end-of-support, which made the refresh budget easy to defend.”
“Setting up SNMP v3 credentials across three vendors took longer than the install. Plan that part before the pilot.”
“It works, but the interface shows its age and the quote took a while. We had to patch to 7.6.1 before go-live too.”
Analyst firms bury this view behind paywalls, and G2 retired its Grid. So here’s TechBag’s synthesis of the network configuration management market — tap any vendor to see why it sits where it does.
Execution strength vs product vision — the classic market map, minus the paywall.
Quoted per appliance or collector; no public price.
The grid nobody publishes — how far each tool goes in pushing scripted, approved changes vs how deep its policy, vulnerability and end-of-life checks go.

Drag the sliders (network devices managed; engineer-hour cost). Estimates model engineering time spent backing up configs by hand, tracing unrecorded changes and preparing compliance evidence, at an assumed 1.5 hours per device a year, with 70% of it removed by automatic archiving and policy checks. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.
Loaded cost = salary + overheads per productive hour. Illustrative only — your TechBag quote models your actual environment and modules.
Quote only. Infoblox publishes no NetMRI price. Its documentation describes a licence keyed to each appliance serial that sets the maximum devices and interfaces and the modules enabled, and an Operations Center licenses each collector separately. TechBag counts your devices and sites first, then quotes in INR with GST.

Is every NetMRI system on 7.6.1 or later? NVD lists five flaws fixed there, one rated 9.8.
How many devices, interfaces and vendors will you manage? The licence sets device and interface limits.
Do several sites need one view? That means an Operations Center controller and a licence for each collector.
Will NetMRI run on a physical appliance, a VMware virtual appliance or in AWS, and who looks after it?
Are SNMP v3 and CLI logins ready for every device, and are vendor default community strings removed?
Which standards must devices meet — PCI, HIPAA, DISA STIGs or your own baseline — and who signs off rules?
TechBag has no guide for this category yet; have you compared NetMRI with the alternatives on this page?
Does the quote itemise appliances, modules, collectors and support? Ask for INR with GST and the term.
Count your devices and sites first, or let a TechBag advisor check your version against the 7.6.1 fixes and scope a one-site pilot.
