Your Macs and iPhones arrive in boxes. Each one shouldn’t take an hour to set up — Mosyle Business enrols Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs and Vision Pros through Apple Business Manager, pushes settings, apps and update deadlines, and runs scripts on Macs — free up to 30 devices, $1 a device a month after that.

This page covers Mosyle Business — the FREE and PREMIUM MDM editions; antivirus, filtering and Mac sign-on are sold in Fuse. The rest:
Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
An MDM uses Apple’s own management protocol to configure, update and secure Macs, iPhones and iPads from one console.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | Setting up each device by hand | Mosyle Business |
|---|---|---|
| Setting up a new Mac | An afternoon of hand configuration | Settings applied at first boot via ABM |
| Keeping OS versions current | Reminder emails that staff ignore | A deadline, then the device updates itself |
| Paying for App Store apps | Personal Apple IDs and expense claims | Apps & Books licences assigned centrally |
| A lost iPhone | Hope, and a hurried password change | Remote lock or wipe from the console |
| Cost for a small fleet | Staff hours nobody counts | $0 up to 30 devices; PREMIUM from $360 a year |
| What it is NOT | — | Windows or Android MDM, antivirus, or India-hosted |
The cheapest test costs nothing: enrol five devices on FREE through Apple Business Manager, set one update deadline, and see what breaks.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
Devices assigned in Apple Business Manager enrol themselves on first boot; User Enrollment covers personal iPhones, and the Auto MDM Migration tool brings fleets in from another MDM.
Profiles and commands travel over Apple’s MDM protocol for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS and visionOS, while an agent on every Mac runs scripts and reports what the protocol cannot.
App Store titles are bought and licensed through Apps & Books; your own PKG, DMG, IPA or Zip files go out through dynamic install and patch workflows set in the console.
Nothing is installed on a server of yours: the console is Mosyle’s cloud service, and Mosyle says all customer data is stored in Microsoft Azure in the United States.
Apple MDM protocol plus a Mac agent — devices enrolled from Apple Business Manager, run from a Mosyle cloud in the US.
Mosyle Business is MDM for Apple devices only — free for up to 30 of them, and a dollar a device a month beyond that.
Macs, iPhones and iPads assigned in Apple Business Manager pick up Mosyle settings during setup, with no IT hands on the box.
The Auto MDM Migration tool shifts devices across, and Mosyle advertises Apple OS 26 ABM migration that avoids wiping them.
Apple User Enrollment lets staff bring their own iPhone or iPad while the company manages only its own accounts, apps and data.
Give users a grace period, five days for instance, plus a fixed hour; at that hour on the last day the update installs itself.
The macOS agent runs your shell scripts remotely, for settings no configuration profile exposes; the Script Catalog is Fuse-only.
Shared iPad mode lets several people sign in to one supervised iPad, which suits front desks, training rooms and shift work.
Buy App Store apps in volume, assign the licences to devices from the console, and take them back when someone leaves.
PKG, DMG, IPA and Zip files deploy through install and patch workflows; secure hosting of PKG and DMG files needs Fuse.
Google Workspace, Microsoft, Okta, Ping and Active Directory connect to the console, and admins can sign in to it by SSO.
Here’s what genuinely sets it apart — and exactly where it stops.
Mosyle’s pricing matrix gives the FREE edition the same ticks as PREMIUM, with one difference: the cap. Up to 30 devices get ADE enrolment at first boot, BYOD enrolment, Shared iPad mode, remote Mac scripts and package installs. Mosyle launched FREE on 5 April 2021, and it is not a time-limited trial.
PREMIUM removes the cap for $1 per device a month, the same for a Mac as for an iPhone, iPad or Vision Pro, and each paid licence manages one Apple TV at no charge. Billing is annual with 30 licences as the floor, so the smallest PREMIUM order is $360 a year by our arithmetic.
Mosyle claims it was first to bring Apple’s Declarative Management and says it supports every released declaration. Its update control is concrete: choose a maximum delay and an hour, and on the final day each Mac, iPhone, iPad or Apple TV updates itself at that time.
Mosyle Business manages Apple devices and nothing else: no Windows, Android or Linux. Antivirus, DNS filtering, Mac sign-on, the macOS App Catalog and Apple Watch management are sold only in Fuse. Data is held in the US on Azure, there is no Indian partner, and Mosyle names no customers.
Inventory each Apple device with its owner and model, then check whether the total stays at 30 or below for FREE.
Create or tidy your ABM account, link it to Mosyle, and ask your Apple reseller to assign new purchases to it.
Enrol a mixed group by zero-touch and User Enrollment, push Wi-Fi, apps and a 5-day update deadline, then watch.
Use the Auto MDM Migration tool or ABM reassignment for the remaining devices, inside the extended trial window.
Stay on FREE at 30 devices or fewer; otherwise license PREMIUM, or step up to Fuse if security asks for more.

“We run 22 Macs and iPads on the FREE edition. Zero-touch through Apple Business Manager behaves exactly as it would on a paid plan.”
“Moving 140 Macs off our old MDM took two weeks with the migration tool, and the extended trial covered the whole overlap.”
“The 5-day update deadline finally got every iPhone current. Staff can put it off for a while, then it installs at the hour we set.”
“PREMIUM is MDM only. When security asked for Mac antivirus and DNS filtering, both turned out to be in Fuse at three times the Mac price.”
“Our Windows laptops still sit in Intune, so we run two consoles. Mosyle is the better tool for Macs, but budget for that split.”
“Six front-desk iPads run in Shared iPad mode. Each shift signs in with its own account, and we stopped reissuing devices.”
Analyst firms bury this view behind paywalls, and G2 retired its Grid. So here’s TechBag’s synthesis of the UEM and MDM market — tap any vendor to see why it sits where it does.
Execution strength vs product vision — the classic market map, minus the paywall.
Free to 30 devices, then $1 a device a month; Apple only.
The grid nobody publishes — how many operating systems a product manages vs how deeply it manages Apple devices.
Five Apple OSes; zero-touch, update deadlines, Mac scripting.

Drag the sliders (Apple devices you manage; IT staff-hour cost). Estimates model the staff time spent setting up devices by hand, chasing OS updates and installing apps, at an assumed 1.5 hours per device a year, with 70% of it removed by zero-touch enrolment and enforced update deadlines. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.

Published: Mosyle Business FREE costs $0 for up to 30 devices. Prices are in USD; Mosyle sells direct, with no Indian partner. Antivirus, DNS filtering and Mac sign-on are in Fuse, not PREMIUM. TechBag tallies your Apple devices and the edition they need, then prices it in INR with GST.
