CRM seats list at US$9 to US$550 a month; only Zoho prints a rupee price

Five vendors' sales-CRM pricing pages, a ten-seat first-year invoice and HubSpot's Casio case study, read for an Indian buyer as of September 2026.

The 2021 version of this piece promised five ways a CRM “catalyses growth”: it saves time, saves money, makes reps productive, tidies up communication and tracks performance. All five are true of a CRM that gets used and false of one that does not, and none of them tells a founder what the thing costs. So this rewrite starts where a buyer starts: the list price of one seat from the five vendors that appear on nearly every Indian shortlist, worked into a first-year invoice for a ten-person team, with the growth claim examined afterwards rather than assumed.

01The seat: US$9 to US$550, and the tier you will actually buy

Freshsales is the cheapest paid door: Growth at US$9 a user a month, Pro at US$39 and Enterprise at US$59, all billed annually.1 Pipedrive starts at US$14 for Lite, then US$39 Growth, US$59 Premium and US$79 Ultimate, with a 14-day trial and no free plan.2 HubSpot Sales Hub Starter is US$20 a seat a month on monthly billing, with a lower “starts at US$7” figure shown against an annual commitment; Professional is US$100 a seat, or US$90 on an annual commitment, and Enterprise US$150.3 Salesforce Sales Cloud runs from Starter Suite at US$25 through Pro Suite at US$100 to Core at US$195, Advanced at US$395 and Max at US$550, the last bundling Agentforce for Sales, which is otherwise an add-on from US$125 a user.4

Zoho CRM is the one vendor on the list with a published rupee price book rather than a conversion: Standard ₹800, Professional ₹1,400, Enterprise ₹2,400 and Ultimate ₹2,600 a user a month on annual billing, GST extra, with the free edition capped at three users.5 6 Zoho’s own pricing page renders the figures by script behind a currency selector, so the rupee numbers here are taken from a dated press account and TechBag’s own intel page rather than from the page text.7

The entry seat spans US$9 to US$25; the tier a real sales team buys spans US$39 to US$100

The entry tiers are not comparable products. Freshsales Growth and Pipedrive Lite are a pipeline and a contact record; HubSpot Starter and Salesforce Starter Suite are the same plus the vendor’s marketing and service starter tools. The mid tier is where sequences, forecasting, multiple pipelines and the audit log appear, and it is where a team of ten that sells on follow-up discipline ends up. That is why the chart’s mid-tier dots matter more than its entry ones.

02The first invoice: ten seats, year one

List price times seats times twelve is the start of the arithmetic, not the end of it. HubSpot requires a one-time Professional Onboarding fee of US$1,500 with Sales Hub Professional and US$3,500 with Enterprise; the price card says so in a footnote.3 Pipedrive sells its lead-capture, campaigns and projects modules as separate add-ons that stack on top of the seat, which is how a US$14 seat becomes a US$50 to US$100 one in practice.9 Salesforce’s page notes that AI “can be added to Core and above”, so the US$100 Pro Suite is the last tier before the agent conversation starts.4

Ten mid-tier seats cost US$4,680 to US$12,300 in year one; HubSpot's required onboarding fee moves it past Salesforce

Three of the five let a small team start at zero. HubSpot’s free CRM covers up to two users3, Zoho’s free edition three5, and Salesforce now prints a Free Suite at US$0 in its comparison table.4 Pipedrive has no free plan, only a 14-day trial, and Freshsales offers a 21-day trial.2 1 A free tier is the cheapest way to learn whether the team will log its calls at all, which is the question the 2021 post’s five factors quietly assumed away. Run it for a month with real deals before any seat is paid for.

The 2.6× gap between the cheapest and dearest mid tier is the price of two different things. Freshsales and Pipedrive sell a sales tool. HubSpot and Salesforce sell a platform on which the sales tool is one hub, and their onboarding fees, ecosystems and AI add-ons are the platform asserting itself. A ten-person team that will never buy the marketing hub is paying for optionality it may not use.

03The growth claim, examined

The original post opened with Casio: after moving to HubSpot in 2016, “email opening rates increased by 40%, website visits elevated by 90%, while leads increased by 496%”. The case study HubSpot still publishes says something narrower. Within a year of implementing HubSpot in 2016, Casio saw website traffic rise 12 per cent and leads grow 496 per cent; in “the past financial year” it recorded a 54 per cent increase in web visits, 71 per cent more new contacts and 27 per cent more customers, and over “the last couple of years” email open rates “up +10%”.8 The 40 and 90 per cent figures our earlier version quoted do not appear in it.

The 496% is real in the sense that HubSpot published it; the baseline it is measured from is not published anywhere

What HubSpot's Casio case study states against what a buyer would need to reuse the number

What the case study states

  • Website traffic up 12% and leads up 496% in the first year after the 2016 implementation
  • Web visits up 54%, new contacts up 71%, customers up 27% in “the past financial year”
  • Email open rates “up +10%”, click-through “+7%”, email revenue above £1 million
  • Products listed: Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Content Hub and Data Hub, on HubSpot CRM

What it does not state

  • The number of leads in the year before, so 496% could be 50 leads becoming 298
  • Which year “the past financial year” is; the page carries no publication date
  • Whether the definition of a lead changed when forms and workflows went live
  • What Sales Hub did on its own, separate from the marketing, content and ads tools

Which tier, then. For a team of five to twenty that sells on follow-up, Freshsales Growth, Pipedrive Lite or Zoho Standard proves the habit for under US$15 or ₹800 a seat, and the data exports cleanly if you outgrow it. Move to the mid tier when you need sequences and a forecast you can defend to a board, not before. Buy the Salesforce or HubSpot platform when the marketing and service teams are coming with you; buying it for sales alone is how the ten-seat invoice reaches five figures in dollars.
