Free-tier limits and the first paid tier for a ten-person Scrum team on Jira, Trello, ClickUp, monday dev and Asana, from the vendors' pricing pages, September 2026.
A ten-person Scrum team can run its board for nothing on three of the five tools worth considering. Jira’s Free plan covers ten users, Trello’s Free plan covers ten collaborators per Workspace, and ClickUp’s Free Forever plan has no member cap and lists sprints as included on every tier.1 2 5 The other two stop short: monday dev’s Free plan ends at two seats and Asana’s Personal plan at two users, so ten people pay US$90 a month on monday dev Basic (US$9 a seat) or US$109.90 on Asana Starter (US$10.99 a user), both billed annually.3 4
The 2023 version of this piece listed Jira, Trello, Asana, Basecamp and Hyve and said each was “a fantastic choice”. That is not a buying decision. The decision is which tool a small agile team should pay for, at what seat count the free tier runs out, and what the first paid tier actually adds. We dropped Basecamp and Hyve, because in September 2026 we could not verify that either publishes sprint or backlog tooling at a list price, and added monday dev and ClickUp, which do.
On list price, the first paid tier for ten people runs from US$50 a month on Trello Standard to US$109.90 on Asana Starter.2 4 Jira Standard is US$7.91 a user, so US$79.10 for ten; Premium, which adds Advanced Plans, is US$14.54.1 ClickUp’s Core plan is US$9 a user billed yearly (its “regular price” is US$12), and monday dev Basic is US$9 a seat with a three-seat minimum.3 5 Every figure here is the vendor’s own page, annual billing, before tax; monthly billing is dearer where the vendor prints it (Trello US$6, Asana US$13.49).2 4
Three of the five cost nothing at ten users; the paid tiers run US$50 to US$110 a month

The free plans are not trials, but each has a wall. Jira’s is the eleventh user. Trello’s is the eleventh board in a Workspace, and its Free and Standard plans have no timeline, calendar or dashboard view; those arrive at Premium, US$10 a user.2 ClickUp includes sprints on every plan, but its timeline and workload views are marked “Trial” until Business at US$17 a user.5 monday’s Timeline and Gantt views and 250 automation actions a month start at Standard (US$12 a seat on work management); Asana’s Starter has Timeline and Gantt, and Goals, portfolios and workload wait for Advanced at US$24.99.3 4
None of the five prints a rupee price. Atlassian and monday.com bill in US dollars; TechBag’s intel pages record both, with 18% GST on the invoice when bought through an Indian reseller, and an IGST reverse-charge filing when bought direct on a foreign card.6 7 monday.com states no India data residency: its tenants sit in AWS regions in the United States and Europe, which matters once a board carries customer names.7 A sprint board also holds employee names, assignments and performance history, which is personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The DPDP Rules were notified on 13 November 2025 and the security-safeguard and breach duties apply from 13 May 2027, so the vendor’s hosting region and sub-processor list belong in the purchase file now.8
