Shopify's Indian plan prices and third-party payment fee, worked at ₹1 lakh, ₹5 lakh and ₹20 lakh of monthly sales, with what else to ask. As of September 2026.
Once an Indian Shopify store sells more than ₹4.1 lakh a month, the ₹1,499 Basic plan costs more than the ₹5,599 Grow plan, because Basic takes 2% of every sale and Grow takes 1%.1 The 2023 version of this post listed five things to weigh when choosing a store builder: scale, ease of use, features, cost and support. It treated cost as the monthly plan. For an Indian merchant the bigger number is the percentage.
Shopify waives its own transaction fee only for merchants on Shopify Payments, and Shopify Payments works in 41 countries. India is not one of them.2 An Indian store therefore takes money through a third-party gateway, and Shopify charges its third-party fee on “all transactions processed through third-party and alternate payment gateways”: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced.13 The gateway then charges its own fee; Razorpay’s standard rate is 2% per successful domestic transaction, with 18% GST on that fee.4
Past ₹4.1 lakh of monthly sales, Grow costs less to run than Basic; Advanced only pays off past ₹42.7 lakh

At ₹5 lakh of monthly sales on Basic, Shopify’s fee and a 2% gateway together take ₹20,000, thirteen times the plan price. That is the line to compare. Zoho Commerce, for one, says its paid plans carry no transaction fee of its own.5 Shopify’s help page does not say how manual methods such as cash on delivery are treated, so ask in writing.
A brand selling its own stock online is an “inventory e-commerce entity” under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, notified on 23 July 2020. The store must name a grievance officer on the site, acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within a month, whichever builder runs the shop.67 Customer names, addresses and phone numbers are personal data under the DPDP Act, 2023, and the Rules notified on 13 November 2025 bring the security-safeguard and breach-notice duties into force on 13 May 2027.8 Shopify prints rupee prices; confirm whether 18% GST is added on the invoice before you budget.
