Your developers use four AI coding tools. IT approved one of them — JumpCloud AI & SaaS Management finds the SaaS and AI apps your staff really use through its browser extension, device agent and API connectors, then warns or blocks unapproved ones and tracks licences — with the full feature set sold only in Platform Prime.

This page covers JumpCloud AI & SaaS Management — with Shadow AI Governance, from the Resmo acquisition, folded in. The rest:
Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
A SaaS management tool keeps a live list of every cloud app your staff use, who uses it and what it costs — now including AI tools.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | A spreadsheet of known apps | JumpCloud AI & SaaS Management |
|---|---|---|
| App inventory | A spreadsheet updated at audit time | Live list from browser, agent and connectors |
| Shadow AI | Found after data has already left | AI tools approved or blocked from a catalogue |
| Leavers | SaaS logins outlive the employee | Former-employee accounts flagged on deletion |
| Unapproved apps | A policy PDF nobody reads | A browser warning or block, with an alternative |
| Renewals | Spotted on the card statement | Renewal emails a day, a week or a month ahead |
| What it is NOT | — | A provisioning tool, or full-featured below Prime |
The cheapest test is the 30-day trial: switch the extension on for one team and count the apps and AI tools nobody approved.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
After a user signs in to the User Portal, the extension records which SaaS and AI sites they log in to and with which work email, and shows the warning or block page.
On managed macOS, Windows and Linux machines the agent checks every 30 minutes for active desktop apps; on Mac and Windows it can also find MCP servers and token spend.
Over 50 connectors pull accounts and usage from providers such as Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub and Cursor; four of them also sync licence counts on their own.
Apps are sorted into approved, unapproved and ignored, each with an owner; risks, licences, renewals and an API for apps and accounts sit next to your users and devices.
The browser extension, device agent and API connectors feed one app list in the JumpCloud console, where IT approves, warns, blocks and tracks licences.
JumpCloud AI & SaaS Management turns browser sign-ins, installed apps and connector data into one governed list of every SaaS and AI tool in use.
The JumpCloud Go extension records SaaS and AI logins by work-email domain, and chosen user groups can be left out of tracking.
The agent lists locally installed apps on managed macOS, Windows and Linux machines and refreshes their active use every 30 minutes.
A Shadow AI dashboard shows adoption by department; on Mac and Windows the agent also finds MCP servers and token cost for coding tools.
An unapproved app gets your own warning banner or a block page in the browser, with a link to the tool the company has approved instead.
The AI App Catalog lets you approve, restrict or ignore generative AI tools before anyone in the company is seen signing up to them.
Flags accounts with no JumpCloud user, logins several people share, accounts of off-boarded staff and high-risk Google OAuth grants.
Enter licence terms, cost and renewal dates for any app; seats in Google Workspace, Entra ID, Slack and PagerDuty sync automatically.
Admins get renewal emails a day, a week or a month ahead, plus digests of new apps and of new accounts on unapproved apps.
Export the app list to CSV for finance or audit, or create, update, list and delete apps and accounts programmatically through the API.
Two hour-long live sessions from JumpCloud’s official channel, both from late 2024, when the product was still called SaaS Management; the shadow-AI features came later.
An hour-long JumpCloud live session from October 2024 introducing SaaS Management, before the AI features and the rename.
JumpCloud’s December 2024 follow-up on the second SaaS Management release; shadow-AI and MCP discovery arrived later.

Tools that lean on invoices or SSO logs alone can miss free sign-ups and desktop apps. JumpCloud watches real logins through its own browser extension, lists installed apps through the agent it already runs on your Macs, PCs and Linux machines, and adds API connectors on top, with each account tied to a named user.
The AI App Catalog lets you approve or block GenAI tools before anyone uses them, and a Shadow AI dashboard shows adoption by department. Since August 2026 the agent also finds MCP servers and token spend for coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code and Codex on Mac and Windows, and can pass them to the AI Gateway.
Users, devices and SSO already live in JumpCloud, so an app found in the browser can be moved under SSO, a leaver’s leftover accounts surface the day you delete the user, and the same console, admins and data region apply. A standalone SaaS tool would need its own feeds for each of those.
The full product, discovery and controls included, needs Platform Prime, which is Contact Sales; only licence tracking is sold alone, at $3. Licence edits do not provision or remove access in the app. Blocking works only where the extension runs, finance and invoice feeds are not documented, and switching it off deletes its data.
Decide between Platform Prime and licence tracking alone, and pick the India region at sign-up; moving it later is a paid job.
Roll out the JumpCloud Go extension, turn on device-agent discovery and connect Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, Slack and GitHub.
Sort apps into approved, unapproved and ignored with an owner each, and set AI tools’ status in the catalogue before wider rollout.
Show warnings with a suggested alternative for a few weeks, then block the riskiest apps and clear leavers’ accounts.
Enter cost and renewal dates for the top apps, set renewal alerts, then settle Prime or à-la-carte pricing in INR with GST.
Modelled on Gartner Peer Insights structure. *Counts and breakdowns are illustrative pending verified review collection.
“The extension surfaced dozens of AI tools our developers had signed up for. Blocking a few from the catalogue took an afternoon.”
“Former-employee accounts were the win: each time we off-boarded someone, their leftover SaaS logins showed up for clean-up.”
“We already ran JumpCloud on our laptops, so discovery used the agent we had. No second tool, and no second rollout.”
“We assumed SaaS discovery was a $3 add-on. Only licence tracking is; discovery and blocking needed a Platform Prime quote.”
“Licences here are records. Freeing a seat in JumpCloud does not touch Slack, so reclaiming it is still a manual step.”
“The token-cost view for our coding tools gave finance an AI spend number for the first time, though only on Mac and Windows.”
Analyst firms bury this view behind paywalls, and review-site grids score satisfaction, not fit for your estate. So here’s TechBag’s synthesis of the SaaS management market — tap any vendor to see why it sits where it does.
Execution strength vs product vision — the classic market map, minus the paywall.
Full set in Platform Prime on quote; licence tracking alone $3.
The grid nobody publishes — how far a product can act at the point of use (warn, block, discover on the device) vs how deep it goes on licences, contracts and renewals.
Browser warn and block, agent and MCP discovery; licences are records.

Drag the sliders (employees using SaaS; IT-hour cost). Estimates model the IT time spent finding unapproved apps, chasing leavers’ accounts and reconciling licences by hand, at an assumed 1.5 hours per employee a year, with 70% of it removed by automatic discovery, account flags and renewal alerts. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.

Two routes. The full product, with discovery, browser controls, account-risk insights and the shadow-AI features, is part of the Platform Prime package, which JumpCloud sells only through Contact Sales. SaaS License Management on its own lists at $3 per user a month billed annually, or $4 month to month, and covers licence tracking only. JumpCloud prices in USD; TechBag quotes in INR with GST.
