A label printer fails on the night shift. The packing line shouldn’t be the first to know — SOTI Connect enrols, configures and watches the label, receipt and wristband printers your operations run on, from 12 printer makers, with firmware and security policy pushed by rule instead of by a site visit.

This page covers SOTI Connect — SOTI’s printer management product, licensed separately from MobiControl. The rest:
Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
One console that enrols, configures and watches the label and receipt printers your operations depend on, across sites.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | An OEM tool per brand, plus site visits | SOTI Connect |
|---|---|---|
| Setting up a new printer | Staged at head office, then couriered | Shipped to site, set up on discovery |
| Learning something is wrong | A store calls once labels stop | 60+ readings and rules that alert first |
| Firmware | A technician visits each site | Pushed remotely to the approved version |
| Mixed printer makes | A separate OEM tool per brand | 12 makes on SOTI’s list in one console |
| Printer security | Passwords set unit by unit, if at all | Password policy and certificates pushed |
| What it is NOT | — | Office print-job control, or a published price |
The cheapest test is one site: enrol its printers by rule, push one approved firmware release, and count the visits it saves.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
On-prem, the server runs on Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022 with SQL Server 2017 to 2022 behind it; SOTI advises putting the databases on a separate machine.
Printers talk over HTTPS, MQTT or, since 2026.1, direct TCP; MQTT needs a commercial-grade broker such as HiveMQ, and adapters can now run natively on Ubuntu or Debian.
A Zebra printer paired by Bluetooth to an Android handheld reports through an agent on that handheld, as its main or backup channel; this arrived in the 2026.0 release.
Enrollment, automation and configuration rules act on printers by group, and drag-and-drop dashboards chart the 60-plus readings in Chrome or Edge.
A server you or SOTI run, adapters for MQTT, TCP and Bluetooth — printers enrolled by rule and read 60-plus ways.
SOTI Connect manages each printer as a device — set up by rule, read 60-plus ways, updated and locked down remotely.
A printer sent direct to a store or depot is discovered and set to your settings and security policy, with no staging step.
Configuration rules hold new and legacy printers to one standard; since 2026.0 rules can run in sequence instead of in parallel.
Firmware goes out to printers remotely to close vulnerabilities and fix faults, keeping each unit on the release you approved.
Battery level, memory use, print-head temperature and print cycles are read from Wi-Fi, wired and Bluetooth printers alike.
Upload printer images and build charts, graphs and gauges by drag and drop to watch print operations by site or group.
Logs are pulled from a printer remotely, kept in Connect for analysis, and can be passed to the printer’s maker for diagnosis.
Password policies are enforced on every enrolled printer from the console rather than set by hand, unit by unit, on site.
Connect generates security certificates and deploys them to printers, so secured connections do not wait for a technician.
Group mapping notices when a printer changes site and files it under the new group; network inventory lists other devices too.

SOTI lists 12 makes for Connect: Avery Dennison, Bixolon, Brady, Brother, CAB, Epson, Microplex, Printronix, SATO, Toshiba, TSC Auto ID and Zebra, and its 2026 releases added Honeywell MQTT models. OEM services such as Zebra Nucleus or SATO Online Services each look after their own brand only.
Enrollment rules find and set up new printers, automation rules fire when a condition you define is met, and configuration rules keep old and new units on one standard. A printer running low on battery or hot at the print head can trigger an action before a store rings the help desk.
Since 2026.0, a Zebra printer paired by Bluetooth to an Android device reports through an agent on that device, so belt printers on delivery routes sit in the same console as networked label printers. 2026.0.1 added the Zebra ZQ511 and ZQ521, and Honeywell’s PD45, PX45 and PX65 over MQTT.
There is no public price, and SOTI’s AWS Marketplace bundle leaves Connect out. It manages printers, not print jobs: no secure release, quotas or copier accounting, which is PaperCut’s lane. MQTT needs a broker you license, no India cloud region is documented, and SOTI announces no analyst placement for it.
List every label, receipt and wristband printer with its maker, model, connection type and site, and check each on SOTI’s list.
Decide whether printer data may leave India; if not, size a Windows Server and SQL Server and pick a commercial MQTT broker.
Write enrollment and configuration rules for one store or depot, connect its printers, and confirm every one reports its readings.
Roll an approved firmware release and the certificate and password policy to the pilot site, and time the hours saved on visits.
Turn on automation rules for battery, memory and print-head heat, build site dashboards, and enrol the remaining locations.

“Label printers now ship straight to the stores and pick up the template and Wi-Fi settings once they join the network.”
“We run Zebra and SATO side by side in two warehouses. Seeing both in one console was the reason we signed.”
“Print-head temperature alerts flagged two units running hot on a night shift before the barcodes started failing scans.”
“Every ward’s wristband printer gets the same certificate and password policy now, not whatever the last visit left.”
“MQTT needed a commercial broker we had not budgeted for. Read the system requirements before you size the server.”
“It handles printers well, but we wanted a rate card. The quote took several rounds with the reseller to settle.”
Analyst firms bury this view behind paywalls, and G2 retired its Grid. So here’s TechBag’s synthesis of the printer management market — tap any vendor to see why it sits where it does.
Execution strength vs product vision — the classic market map, minus the paywall.
Quote-only; three releases from November 2025 to April 2026.
The grid nobody publishes — how many printer brands a tool covers vs how much setup, upkeep and security it handles for each printer.
12 makes; rules, firmware, 60+ readings, certificates.

Drag the sliders (printers you manage; technician-hour cost). Estimates model the staff time spent staging printers, visiting sites for firmware and settings, and chasing faults reported late, at an assumed 1.5 hours per printer a year, with 70% of it removed by rule-based setup, remote updates and alerts. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.
Loaded cost = salary + overheads per productive hour. Illustrative only — your TechBag quote models your actual environment and modules.
Quote only. SOTI publishes no price for Connect, and the one SOTI price in public — the SOTI ONE bundle on AWS Marketplace at $119.88 a device for 12 months — covers MobiControl, XSight, Snap and Premium or Enterprise Service, not Connect. Reseller listings sell Connect per printer per month, in the cloud or on-prem, as a subscription; SOTI stopped selling perpetual licences in September 2024. TechBag counts your printers by maker and site first, then quotes in INR with GST.

Is each printer maker on SOTI’s list of 12, or a Honeywell MQTT model added in a 2026 release? List any that are not.
Which printers are on Wi-Fi, wired or Bluetooth? Bluetooth Zebra units need an Android handheld running the agent.
Cloud or on-prem? If printer data must stay in India, budget for your own server, since no India region is documented.
Will printers report over MQTT? SOTI says that needs a commercial-grade broker such as HiveMQ, licensed by you.
Over 10,000 devices? SOTI advises an Azure B4MS-class machine and the databases on a separate server.
On EAP-TLS Wi-Fi with Honeywell printers? 2026.1 notes a known issue limiting EAP-TLS to TLS 1.0 there.
Does the quote count printers per month for cloud or on-prem, and say whether it is separate from MobiControl?
Ask for the per-printer price, term and service tier in INR with GST, and confirm it is a subscription, not perpetual.
Count your printers by maker, connection and site first, or let a TechBag advisor check them against SOTI’s list, settle cloud versus an on-prem server in India, and get the quote itemised in INR.
