Your service desk lives in a shared inbox and three spreadsheets. Requests shouldn’t depend on who reads the email — Matrix42 Service Management runs IT, HR and facilities service desks in three editions on two codebases — in Matrix42’s European cloud, a private cloud you contract, or on your own servers.

Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
One place where staff ask for help or services, and IT, HR or facilities deliver them against agreed levels.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | Email and a basic ticket queue | Matrix42 Service Management |
|---|---|---|
| Where requests arrive | Email, phone calls and corridor asks | A portal, Microsoft Teams and conversational AI |
| Proof behind a change | A mail thread nobody can find later | Change records linked to items in the CMDB |
| HR and facilities requests | Separate tools or shared mailboxes | ESM workspaces on the same platform |
| Where the AI runs | Wherever the tool’s vendor decided | A model and data location you configure |
| Where the data lives | The SaaS vendor’s chosen region | Matrix42 Cloud, a private cloud or your servers |
| What it is NOT | — | An Indian-hosted cloud, or a published price |
The cheapest test is the free trial: put one team’s services and SLAs on it, run a month of real requests through the portal and Teams, and compare.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
The former Efecte platform from Finland, on its own release train (2025.1 to 2025.3, then Professional 26.1 in May 2026). Core is a quick ITSM start; Professional adds business services.
The original Matrix42 ESM platform, unified at 25.4 and updated to 26.1 in April 2026. It joins services to assets and devices, and 25.4 is the version in the PinkVERIFY registry.
AI Agents (October 2025), AI Assist and Configurable AI, which lets you choose the model and the data location. Matrix42 relaunched the layer as Neo on 1 October 2026.
Matrix42 Cloud uses a provider in your country across its European markets; Private Cloud runs in a data centre you contract; On-Premises you run yourself; Enterprise 26.1 adds Linux containers.
One brand, two codebases — Core and Professional from Efecte, Enterprise from Matrix42, with one AI layer over both.
Matrix42 Service Management runs IT and business service desks in three editions, built on two codebases.
Incident, problem, change, request, knowledge, configuration and asset practices come out of the box rather than as projects.
Native Microsoft Teams integration and conversational AI let staff raise and track requests in the chat they already use.
A configuration management database ships with the desk, so a change record can name the items it touches before approval.
AI Agents, launched in October 2025, handle self-resolution; Enterprise 26.1 adds agents for ticket resolution and service detection.
The AI-Native Workflow Designer gained more actions in 26.1, beside Workflow Studio and SolutionBuilder on the ESM Platform.
Since July 2025 Configurable AI lets an organisation choose which model runs and where its data goes, under its own governance.
The same platform serves HR, finance and facilities; 26.1 adds ESM Workspaces for non-IT teams and HR Service Management was renewed.
IT and software asset management, UEM and FastViewer remote support are separate Matrix42 licences that join the same desk.
Run it in Matrix42 Cloud, a private cloud you contract, or on-premises, where Enterprise 26.1 adds Linux container deployment.
The Matrix42 Enterprise 26.1 release webcast, AI Agents resolving requests, the AI-Native Workflow Designer, and Avarn Security’s customer story. All from Matrix42’s official channel, 2025–2026.
The 26.1 release of Matrix42 Enterprise: AI Agents, the workflow designer, ESM Workspaces and Linux containers.
How Matrix42’s AI Agents take a request from intake to resolution without an analyst picking it up.
Building a service workflow with the AI-Native Workflow Designer instead of scripting each step.

Matrix42 sells service management in three steps. Core is the quick ITSM start with out-of-the-box processes; Professional adds business services beyond IT; Enterprise is the end-to-end suite that ties services to assets, processes and devices. All three either include Matrix42 Intelligence or can add it.
Configurable AI, released in July 2025, lets you choose the model behind the assistant and where the data is handled. AI Agents arrived in October 2025, every Service Management customer gained new Intelligence features from 1 March 2026, and the layer became Neo on 1 October 2026.
IT asset management, software asset management, UEM, endpoint data protection and FastViewer remote support all come from Matrix42 and connect to the same desk. Infineon runs ITSM and a service catalogue for 25,000 employees on Matrix42 and reports a return on investment within 12 months.
Two codebases sit under one brand, so a demo of Enterprise says little about Professional. The PinkVERIFY entry covers Enterprise 25.4 only. Gartner rates it a Niche Player. There is no list price, no India office, partner or cloud region, and support runs on European business hours.
Decide between Core, Professional and Enterprise, and get the partner to state which codebase each quoted module runs on.
Pick Matrix42 Cloud, a private cloud in a data centre you contract, or on-prem; Indian residency rules out the first.
Load one team’s services, catalogue items and SLAs, then run real incidents and requests through the portal and Teams.
Model the configuration items that matter, link changes to them, and decide whether the discovery add-on is worth buying.
Add an HR or facilities workspace, set AI governance, and book the two yearly major upgrades into the calendar.

“We began on Professional for incidents and requests, then moved HR onboarding forms onto it without buying a second tool.”
“Configurable AI let us decide which model writes ticket summaries, and that ended our data-protection officer’s objections.”
“Ask which codebase you are buying. The partner demo showed Enterprise screens and our quote turned out to be Professional.”
“Teams intake shortened the phone queue: people log a request in the chat window they already have open all day.”
“We host it ourselves, so the two mandatory major upgrades each year need a fixed slot in our change calendar.”
“The CMDB is solid, but automatic discovery came as an add-on to the separate asset product, which our budget missed.”
Analyst firms bury this view behind paywalls, and G2 retired its Grid. So here’s TechBag’s synthesis of the ITSM and service desk market — tap any vendor to see why it sits where it does.
Execution strength vs product vision — the classic market map, minus the paywall.
Quote-only; core markets DACH, the Nordics, France, Spain, Italy.
The grid nobody publishes — how many ways the desk can be hosted and where its data can sit vs how much of IT and business service one vendor covers.
Cloud, private cloud or on-prem; desk, ESM, assets, UEM and IGA from one vendor.
Positions are TechBag’s illustrative synthesis of public review-platform data and vendor documentation — not a reproduction of any analyst graphic. Verify before relying on it.

Matrix42 Service Management is one of 22 ITSM & service desk products TechBag carries. The ITSM & Service Desk guide narrows them to a shortlist and shows the reasoning. →
Drag the sliders (employees who raise requests; employee-hour cost). Estimates model the time staff lose chasing IT, HR and facilities requests by email and phone, at an assumed 1.5 hours per employee a year, with 70% of it removed by a self-service portal, Teams intake and AI self-resolution. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.
Loaded cost = salary + overheads per productive hour. Illustrative only — your TechBag quote models your actual environment and modules.
Quote only. Matrix42 publishes no price for Service Management: its pricing page asks for a quote request, and its FAQ offers each product free for 30 days. Core and Professional (the former Efecte platform) and Enterprise (the original Matrix42 suite) are separate offerings. The £41–58 a user a month on the UK government’s G-Cloud 14 framework covers only the Efecte cloud service for UK public bodies and is not a list price. IT and software asset management are separate point products. Matrix42 shows no rupee price; TechBag scopes the edition first, then quotes in INR with GST.
Best for a quick, cloud-first start
Best for a broader rollout
Best for services tied to assets and devices
Whatever the list prices above, TechBag negotiates a significantly better deal — with GST-compliant INR invoicing and local support. Ask us for your discounted quote.
Tell us your requirements and current tools — we’ll model it against what you spend today.
Take this into your next vendor call — including ours.
Which edition is on the quote — Core, Professional or Enterprise — and which codebase does each module run on?
Does your auditor accept the PinkVERIFY entry, which covers Enterprise 25.4 only, or need proof for Professional?
Must ticket data stay in India? Then plan a private cloud or on-prem install; Matrix42 Cloud is hosted in Europe.
Do you need IT or software asset management, and the discovery add-on? Each is a separate Matrix42 licence.
Which model and data location will Configurable AI use, and does that match your data-protection policy?
Can your team absorb two mandatory major releases a year, each supported for only 12 months?
Matrix42 lists 8am–5pm European contact hours. Who covers Indian working hours, and in which language?
How is the quote counted, what is the term, and can it be itemised in INR with GST before the trial ends?
Work out which edition and codebase you need first, or let a TechBag advisor plan where it runs, set up the 30-day trial and get the quote itemised in INR.
