Your actuals sit in one tool and your budget in forty workbooks. A plan nobody can see beside the numbers gets argued, not used — SAP Analytics Cloud puts dashboards, budgets and forecasts in one SaaS — business intelligence, planning and predictive analytics, now also delivered inside SAP Business Data Cloud.

Most product pages skip this. We start here — so you buy a capability, not a buzzword.
One tool for reports on what happened and plans for what should happen, on the same data.
What consolidation actually replaces, dimension by dimension.
| Dimension | Budget workbooks and mailed reports | SAP Analytics Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Where the budget lives | Linked spreadsheets mailed between finance and business units | A planning model in the same SaaS as the reports |
| How managers see actuals | Exported files, out of date by the meeting | Browser dashboards on the current figures |
| Forecasting | Last year plus a percentage | Predictive analytics alongside the plan |
| Reporting and planning tools | One BI tool, one planning workbook, two truths | BI and planning in one product |
| Where it runs | Desktop files on laptops | SaaS, and now also inside Business Data Cloud |
| What it is NOT | — | A published price list, or a confirmed India storage region |
The cheapest test is one cost centre: move its budget out of spreadsheets, report against it for a month, and see who still asks for files.
Vendors love diagrams; buyers need to know what they’re actually operating. Here’s the whole platform, demystified.
The BI side turns business data into dashboards and reports that managers open in a browser, so a review meeting reads one set of current figures instead of emailed workbooks.
Planning sits in the same product as reporting, so a budget or forecast is built where the actuals are already shown; SAP sets the planning and BI scope in the quote it prepares.
Predictive analytics is the third job SAP names for it, adding a view of where a trend is heading so a team can test a target before it commits the number to the plan.
SAP now also delivers Analytics Cloud inside Business Data Cloud, the SaaS data layer it launched with Databricks in February 2025, next to SAP Datasphere and SAP Databricks.
Dashboards, budgets and forecasts in one SaaS — now also delivered inside SAP Business Data Cloud, beside Datasphere.
SAP Analytics Cloud is SAP’s one tool for reporting what happened and planning what comes next.
Dashboards and reports are published as a cloud service, so managers open the current figures in a browser rather than wait for a mailed file.
Predictive analytics is one of the three jobs SAP lists, giving reports and plans a forward view that a team can hold up against its target.
Planning shares the product with reporting, so a variance can sit next to the budget line it belongs to instead of in a workbook rebuilt each month.
Finance can move a budget round out of linked spreadsheets into one shared planning model, so every contributor edits the same version.

Ashok Leyland runs it with SAP Datasphere and SAP Business AI, the combination SAP named in its February 2025 Asia Pacific round-up.

Most BI tools stop at the report, and the budget then moves to spreadsheets or a separate planning suite. Analytics Cloud puts business intelligence, planning and predictive analytics in one SaaS, so the plan and the actuals it is judged against live in the same tool and in one licence conversation with SAP.
SAP announced a Leader placement in Gartner’s Financial Planning Software Magic Quadrant on 9 December 2025, and Anaplan’s own release lists SAP among that quadrant’s Leaders too. BI is a different story: coverage of Gartner’s 2025 Analytics and BI quadrant put SAP among the Visionaries, while Power BI, Tableau, Qlik and ThoughtSpot all claim Leader spots.
For a business already on SAP Cloud ERP or SuccessFactors, the reporting and planning tool comes from the same supplier as the transaction systems, and SAP now delivers it inside Business Data Cloud too. Ashok Leyland, which pairs it with Datasphere and SAP Business AI, is the Indian example SAP itself names.
TechBag could confirm no Analytics Cloud price, so a budget waits on SAP’s quote. No India storage region is published for it, whereas Microsoft lists three Indian regions for Power BI and Tableau Cloud runs an India pod. Where pure BI breadth decides the deal, the Leaders of Gartner’s BI quadrant deserve a demo first.
List who only reads dashboards, who builds them and who enters plan figures; that split decides the shape of the quote.
Ask SAP for scope, term, AI features and storage region in writing, with the Analytics Cloud quote itemised in INR with GST.
Take one cost centre’s budget out of spreadsheets, load last year’s actuals, and build that unit’s plan inside the tool.
Publish the matching dashboard so managers see actuals beside that budget, then collect what they still could not find.
Add further cost centres and the rolling forecast, and name an owner for each model before the pilot team steps away.

“Our budget round ran on dozens of linked workbooks. Planning in the same tool as the reports ended the version-control fights.”
“Plant heads now open one dashboard in the browser before the morning call, instead of waiting for a spreadsheet by mail.”
“Authoring took longer to learn than we planned. Managers read the stories happily, but building them stayed with two analysts.”
“Make SAP split reading, authoring and planning users in the quote. Our first draft priced everyone as a planner.”
“We ran it against Power BI. Microsoft won on seat price; SAP won because finance wanted the plan next to the reports.”
“Our data office would not approve the contract until SAP confirmed, in writing, which region holds the analytics tenant.”
Analyst firms bury this view behind paywalls, and G2 retired its Grid. So here’s TechBag’s synthesis of the analytics and planning market — tap any vendor to see why it sits where it does.
Execution strength vs product vision — the classic market map, minus the paywall.
Planning Leader (Dec 2025); BI Visionary (2025), per coverage.
The grid nobody publishes — how clearly a tool offers storage in India vs how much budgeting and forecasting it does itself.
Planning built in; no India storage region published.

Drag the sliders (people who build reports or enter plan figures; finance and analyst hour cost). Estimates model time spent consolidating budget workbooks and rebuilding reports at an assumed 1.5 hours per person a year, with 70% of it removed by planning and reporting in one tool. Both figures are assumptions. Illustrative.
Loaded cost = salary + overheads per productive hour. Illustrative only — your TechBag quote models your actual environment and modules.
TechBag prints no SAP price for SAP Analytics Cloud: figures quoted online could not be confirmed on sap.com, and SAP quotes each deal on the mix of reporting and planning users, the term and any AI features. Business Data Cloud is quoted separately. TechBag splits your users first, then itemises SAP’s quote in INR with GST beside rival quotes.
Best when finance plans where it reports
Best for a broader rollout
Best when the SAP data layer is changing too
