Quick answer

Zendesk is an AI-first service software company, private since November 2022 under a consortium led by Hellman & Friedman and Permira, and run by CEO Tom Eggemeier. On its Resolution Platform it sells a Customer Service Suite, an Employee Service Suite, AI agents billed per resolution, a contact centre on Amazon Connect, QA and WFM. It lists prices in USD, not INR, and has offices in Bangalore and Pune but no India data region. Read more ↓ Show less ↑

Zendesk Copilot

Platform & engine

An agent-assist add-on at US$50 per agent a month on annual billing, available from Suite Professional and also sold as a Suite Enterprise + Copilot bundle. It is not a separate product, so TechBag covers it on the Customer Service page

Advanced Data Privacy and Protection

Platform & engine

A security add-on for Suite Enterprise and above. Because it is bought only on top of the Customer Service Suite, TechBag explains it on that page rather than giving it one of its own

Zendesk Sell

Platform & engine

The sales CRM, which Zendesk will retire on 31 August 2027 across every Sell plan and the mobile app. Zendesk has partnered with Pipedrive for migration, so TechBag does not page Sell and does not recommend it to new buyers

Zendesk Marketplace

Platform & engine

Zendesk’s catalogue of 1,800+ apps and integrations that plug into every Suite. It is a directory, not a licence, so it appears on this hub and on the product pages where a specific integration matters

The thesis

Why “paid per resolution” changes the buying maths

Most help desks charge by the seat. Zendesk still does for human agents, but its AI agents are included in every plan up to an allowance and then billed per automated resolution — US$2.00 on pay-as-you-go. The cost now follows how much the AI actually closes, so the forecast matters as much as the head count.

01
One base for customer and employee service

02
How the AI agents improve

Resolution Learning Loop

Zendesk’s name for the loop that retrains its agents on outcomes; it says they learn from roughly 20 billion ticket interactions.

03
Apps, MCP and other service desks

Actions and integrations

1,800+ Marketplace apps, an MCP Server announced at Relate 2026, and AI agents that can work inside Salesforce or ServiceNow.

04
Where service data is kept

AWS hosting and Data Center Location

Core data runs on AWS in the US, EEA, UK, Japan or Australia; the location add-on must be switched on, and QA and WFM run on GCP.

Start with who you serve — customers or colleagues — then add AI agents, voice, QA and WFM on top of the Suite.

Track 02 · Buying guides

Buy it like you’ve done this before

The procurement playbook TechBag runs with IT buyers — steps, licensing cheat-sheet, and the pitfalls that cost quarters.

01

Pick customer or employee service

The two Suites have separate price lists and trials. Customer Service starts at $55 an agent a month, Employee Service at $29, both on annual billing.

02

Check what Support Team leaves out

The $19 Support Team plan is email ticketing with no messaging or help centre. Most teams comparing omnichannel tools need Suite Team or higher.

03

Forecast AI-agent resolutions

Each plan includes a few automated resolutions per agent a month; the rest cost US$2.00 each pay-as-you-go. Size the volume before you sign.

04

Price the add-ons on top

Contact Center is $83 an agent, QA $35, Copilot $50, and QA plus WFM $50 as a bundle, all on top of a Suite plan rather than instead of one.

05

Settle where the data lives

Activate Data Center Location and choose from the US, EEA, UK, Japan or Australia. India is not offered, and QA and WFM run on Google Cloud.

06

Get it priced in rupees

Zendesk bills in USD, EUR, GBP or BRL, never INR. TechBag scopes the Suite, agents, resolutions and add-ons, and quotes the total in INR with GST.

The licensing cheat-sheet

Contact CenterPer agent on top of any Suite plan · Amazon Connect telephony on consumption$83 per agent, annualVoice support
QAPer agent add-on · or bundled with WFM$35 per agent, annualConversation quality
WFMWorkforce Engagement Bundle with QA · standalone price not published$50 bundle per agentForecasting and scheduling

Zendesk publishes a per-agent list in USD: Customer Service Suite from $55 and Employee Service from $29 a month on annual billing, with AI resolutions metered and Contact Center, QA, WFM and Copilot as add-ons. TechBag gets the quote itemised in INR with GST.

Five pitfalls that cost buyers quarters

1

Quoting $19 as the Suite price

Support Team at $19 is email-only ticketing. The cheapest Customer Service Suite is $55 an agent a month annual, or $69 billed monthly.

2

Forgetting resolutions are metered

AI agents come with a small allowance per agent; past it, each automated resolution is billed. Budget the volume, not just the seats.

3

Assuming data stays in one region

Without the activated location add-on, Zendesk may move account data between regions. QA, WFM and advanced AI agents run on Google Cloud.

4

Treating Employee Service as full ITIL

There is no CMDB and change runs on task templates. Estates audited on change and configuration need a fuller ITSM tool.

5

Buying Zendesk Sell now

Sell retires on 31 August 2027, every plan and the mobile app with it. Zendesk points Sell customers to Pipedrive for the migration.
